I am am currently leading an ongoing Songwriting 101 and Production music program at Tulsa Boys' Home — a program built on a simple belief: music is one of the most powerful therapeutic outlets a young person can be given, and to meet kids where they are at. Students write, record, and produce their own songs, learning that their voice is worth hearing. We are working towards end of summer performance, or recordings. Many students are touching an instrument or producing music for the first time in their lives.
I am actively raising funds and awareness to keep this program growing and going. It is currently funded through a grant this summer. We are hoping to organize grass roots style, to provide bi monthly visits, while we raise more funding for this programs and resources needed.
Donations are accepted through many forms including through affilation with Red Fork Arts Foundry (501c), Tulsa Boys Home (501c) and growing efforts. We need instruments and supplies, and of course funding. Because of the organizational structure, and privacy of residents we have not been able to acheive funding through state grants, but rather small budgets and benevolance of others.
